Nutrition

Healthy Lunch

We follow Alberta's nutritional guidelines, providing healthy meals that arouse children's appetites. Our freshly prepared meals are designed by a Nutritionist to meet their nutritional needs, with parents having the opportunity to contribute. Bi-weekly or monthly meal schedules are shared with parents.

We accommodate all types of eaters

We strive to accommodate the dietary needs of children from diverse backgrounds, respecting their ethnicity, beliefs, and ages. Meals are tailored to different age categories and individual feeding habits.

Infant Lunches

For infants not yet eating solid food, we provide non-solid options like milk, cereal, mashed vegetables, and blended fruits. As per Canada's food guidelines, children aged 1-5 and older are served vegetables, fruits, grains, milk alternatives, and meat alternatives. Serving sizes vary by age.

Meet KidzPen’s Registered Dietitian, Sarah Remmer, RD

About Sarah Remmer, RD

Hello, KidzPen families! My name is Sarah Remmer and I'm an award-winning registered dietitian with almost 20 years of experience, a mom of three and the proud founder and President of The Centre for Family Nutrition, a Canada-wide nutrition counselling practice that specializes in child and family nutrition. I lead a team of amazing dietitian moms who help families like yours with feeding and nutrition struggles.

I’m also a writer and speaker and spend a lot of my time creating nutrition content for parents, caregivers, educators and other health professionals, developing recipes, and presenting on topics related to nutrition and feeding. I work with value-aligned organizations, commodity groups, companies and brands as an expert, behind-the-scenes mastermind and content creator, as well as a front-facing, proud advocate, spokesperson and influencer.

I also published my first book titled, Food to Grow On, The Ultimate Guide to Childhood Nutrition—from Pregnancy to Packed Lunches. It’s an easy-to-navigate guidebook for parents that answers your burning nutrition questions from prenatal to school-aged!

Sarah’s Food Philosophy

I want parents to feel a sense of relief, peace of mind, community and support when it comes to feeding their children. I have dedicated my career to combating diet culture and helping parents feel supported to raise children who trust their bodies, enjoy a variety of foods and have a positive relationship with food and body long term, so they can fully bloom in all areas of life.

How Sarah Supports KidzPen Families

I am thrilled to be the lead consulting dietitian for KidzPen. It is an honour to be a part of shaping your child’s food journey (and maybe even your own!) in a meaningful way.

Parent and Caregiver Workshops

I provide two live workshops to parents and caregivers. In these sessions, I answer all your burning questions about hot-button topics such as picky eating, meal planning and so much more.

Private Learning Hub

To help you on your feeding journey, I’ve created a private learning hub exclusively for KidzPen families.

Here you will find helpful resources such as:

-       my tried-and-true family menu plans

-       kid-approved recipes

-       handy printables for snack ideas, lunches and more.

I also share my most helpful blog posts on all things picky eating. This is also where you can find the recordings of the live parent workshops to access at any time.

Comprehensive Food Exploration Curriculum

Have you noticed your child buzzing about the food activities they did or the food they explored? Well, that’s because each week, I’ve created fun and engaging food exploration lesson plans that the lovely staff facilitate with your little one.

From Apricots to Zucchini, your child is given the opportunity to explore food in a non-judgmental, pressure-free, and—most importantly—fun way! These are the ingredients needed to help children develop a positive relationship with food.

Social Media

Give KidzPen a follow on social media and you’ll see yours truly contribute helpful food and nutrition tips every month. Feel free to engage and ask questions!

Menu Planning

It’s no surprise that as a dietitian, I love food. I plan dietitian-approved meal and snack menus for KidzPen to ensure they offer a wide variety and balance of foods to keep tummies satisfied.
